A NOISY manhole cover which has caused upset to residents and businesses in Largs has been fixed at last.
We reported earlier in November that a clanking fitting had been frustrating residents 24 hours a day at various properties on Irvine Road, including a local guest house, and an elderly residential home.
The problem emerged last month following roadworks which took place on the A760 which required the stretch of road to be closed temporarily.
The matter was supposed to be fixed during the completion of the road resurfacing works which took place last week, but didn't happen, leading to local businessman Keith Low raising the matter at a Largs Community Council meeting.
He voiced his fury about the situation, and his disappointment was echoed by local councillors.
A local guest house owner claimed they had even lost business because of the situation.
Councillor Tom Marshall told the News that he is glad that Amey and Scottish Water have resolved the matter, and sent an email of thanks to the organisations, saying that the repair was 'much appreciated'.
In a letter sent by Amey to residents in the street who had complained about the matter, it stated: "Scottish Water have now carried out repairs to the noisy manhole cover adjacent to your property in Largs. Please accept my sincerest apologies for any distress this may have caused you."
