THE reformed Largs branch of Royal British Legion (Scotland) recently held its AGM within Largs Bowling Club and voted in a new committee.
Tom McMillan was elected chairman, Stuart Rumble was named as vice chairman and treasurer, Ray Young as branch secretary, and Ruth Gregory and Colin McGinty as committee members.
Amongst the business discussed, the branch considered how best to distribute the sum of £558.65 in the Glasses Fund, which was the surplus left over once the late member John Hutchison’s glasses had been purchased through crowd funding.
It was agreed to donate £250 to Sight Scotland Veterans, who run the Hawkhead Centre in Paisley which John attended, £150 to Largs Food Bank and £158.65 to Scottish War Blinded.
The next branch meeting which will be held in Largs Bowling Club on Thursday, December 5 at 7pm.
Anyone can now join the organisation for £15 per year with a branch annual fee of £5.
The Largs branch would welcome new members to ensure veterans in the area receive the support and help they may need.
Anyone interested can contact Ray Young at rhhyoung1948@gmail.com or phone 07803750859, or just turn up at the branch meeting where you will be warmly welcomed.
