Ardrossan Accies 38 Carrick 8
On a glorious day for rugby, the Accies recorded another comfortable win to sit top of the league after three games, writes Danny McGreish. Fin Cairns of Largs was one of the stars of the show, see picture above.
Carrick in front when John Fulton kicked a penalty to put them 3 points in front. Indeed, they could have extended their lead by another 3 points but the penalty attempt was wide.
Accies eventually started to take control of the game. On the 20th minute Accies went in front after a deft kick by Stuart Lewis was gathered by Conor McCann who went in for the score. Stuart Lewis converted to put Accies on 7 points.
Five minutes later Accies extended their lead after Andy Duncan latched onto the ball and sprinted from inside his 22 to touch down for his first of three try's, the conversion was missed.
Another try shortly followed after a break by Ruairidh Anderson was supported by Ian Kerr who went over in the corner.
A Stuart Lewis kick started off the second half and after just 4 minutes of play he also scored Accies 4th and bonus point try after he drifted through Carrick's defence to score, he also converted.
Carrick did manage a try 2 minutes later, after outside centre Conor Wyllie finished off a forward drive by No 8 Blair Jardine to score. The conversion was missed.
On the 20th minute ,Accies were awarded a scrum in front of the posts - a Stuart Lewis delayed feed found Andy Duncan who went in for the score. Stuart Lewis converted.
Ten minutes from full time Andy Duncan scored his 3rd and his team's 6th try when he outpaced the Carrick defenders to score. Stuart Lewis converted.
Apart from the first 10 minutes this was a comfortable win for the home side.
