The Probus singles final held recently at Largs Bowling Club, was won by Gordon Law who prevailed over Alan Little by 21-17. Alan has had an exceptional year at Largs Bowling Club, so it was all the more delightful for Gordon to have won this competition.
The game fluctuated with Alan starting well and putting points on the card. Gordon then had a purple patch building up a commanding lead. Not to be outdone, Alan fought back to take the lead 15-14, however Gordon prevailed in the end by producing some quite exceptional bowls.
Gordon was delighted to win this honour, revealing that this was the first individual bowls trophy he had won in 40 years of trying. There’s hope for us all, and let’s also hope that Gordon doesn’t have to wait another 40 years before his next triumph.
The above was prepared by Christopher Hoult who is the Largs Probus Club bowls convenor.
