ANGLERS from Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland are set to descend on Largs for a 'Home Nations' fishing tournament.
The Newhaylie Fishery will host the 'reel-y good' event as the winners of six Scottish heats through the course of this year do battle for international honours - bringing a spin-off to the Largs and North Ayrshire economy too.
The Scottish participants in the event have all won through to the competition after competing in six heats in the Scottish National Stillwater Championships - at Wormit in Fife, Drumtassie in West Lothian, Loch Insch near Inverurie, Allandale Tarn at West Calder, Burnhouse near Bonnybridge, and Waterfront near Ayr during February, March and April.
Semi-finals followed at Kingennie, near Broughty Ferry, with 12 anglers from each semi-final qualifying for the final.
With anglers coming to Largs from all over the British Isles and Ireland for the big event, it has proved to be a boost for local hotels and guest houses.
Keith Low, owner of St Leonard's Guest House on Irvine Road, said: "It is good news and we are booked out for the event - it is great to see and there is a lot of excitement and anticipation for the competition."
As well as the tournament itself, there will be plenty of build-up for competitors over the preceding days.
Most of the teams are expected to arrive on Friday, October 20, with several days of practice following before the anglers go for gold on Wednesday, October 25.
Newhaylie Trout Fishery is located just off the Haylie Brae on the edge of town, with spectacular views of the Cumbraes, Bute and Arran from around the 3.6 acre loch.
