Pat Rall Memorial Trophy semi-final

Largs Thistle 4 Port Glasgow 1

Largs Thistle enjoyed a comfortable victory in the semi-final of the Pat Rall Memorial Trophy at Barrfields Park on Saturday.

It was an early goal for trialist Travis Stracey after only ten minutes as Thistle started the game on the front foot.

Thistle were continuing to push forward with a David Ramsay goal ruled out for infringement, and Lewis Davidson's clever curler which cannoned off the right post after good work cutting in from the left.

A clever reverse pass from Will Sewell allowed Cole Ojungu to make it 2-0 with an angled lob into the net for a quality finish on 40 minutes.

Thistle pretty much put the game to bed on 51 minutes with a clinical strike from Will Sewell as substitutes made an appearance including Ryan Deas who made his return to Largs as a trialist after leaving in 2011.

Port Glasgow pulled a goal back on 52 minutes as ex-Largs Thistle forward Dylan McLaughlin gave the visitors something to cheer but the Barrfields side put the game firmly beyond doubt as Blair Devine made it 4-1 on 63 minutes.

Deas had a good chance to make it five as the ex-Pollok and Irvine Meadow forward turned and twisted his way past defenders but blasted the ball over the bar from the edge of the area.

It was a bright and bubbly display from Largs - much like Pat Rall himself who is much missed around Barrfields Park.

LARGS: Wilton, McMaster, Hughes, Davidson, Sewell, Trialist, Ramsay, Ojungu, McCreath, McGrath, Devine. Subs: Faulds, Martin, Trialist, Trialist, Trialist, Trialist (GK)
