Spain were worthy winners of the European football championships.

For me they were the most skilful team in the tournament with some magnificent performances throughout.

I thought that in the final Spain had much more possession in the first half, and looked the better team, but just couldn't break down England.

England just seemed to be happy to sit back and let Spain have the ball, and at this point, it was not a great watch. It really needed England to go and try to win the game.

Two minutes into the second half and Spain went 1-0 up with a great finish by Williams who I thought was Spain’s most dangerous player in the first half.

Time now surely for England to come out and play; 60 minutes in and it’s probably time to replace Harry Kane, he is just not at it. All over the park, England look a tired team.

Gareth Southgate must have heard me. The other sub Palmer gets them back in it with a great composed finish.

At 80 minutes, though, I am just thinking 'get this game over, it’s not great'. Seven minutes later Spain score their second: a basic goal, low cross with pace fired into the box for a forward to attack, so simple.

The best team on the night, and in the tournament, won it. The player of the tournament? My vote would go to Spain’s left back Cucurella.

Who do you think won the battle of the pundits? I think Roy Keane won that .

It’s Largs Thistle against Petershill on Saturday as Stuart Davidson's continue their build up to the first league match against Johnstone Burgh.

Saturday saw another good win against Kilbirnie in a game Largs never looked like losing. But the league will a step up in what they have played so far and I feel they need to get off to a good start.

It’s going to be a very competitive league again. It was good to see Lewis McNeill make his debut for Largs on Saturday. I have spoken to Lewis a couple of times; he seems to have the correct attitude to get to where he wants to be, and I hope he does. Good luck Lewis.

The Thistle 2008 team are in action at Cappielow on Sunday. Get along there to see Lewis and the rest of his team mates in action.

Finally, Largs Thistle 35s, sponsored by Cullis Amusements, are away to Glenburn this Friday, July 19, with a 7pm kick-off.
