Largs Thistle have confirmed the re-signing of a well-known name from the past in Ryan Deas who featured for the team 15 years ago during their run to the Scottish Junior Cup final in 2010.

Manager Stuart Davidson hopes that Deas will provide much needed experience to the Largs forward line following the loss of both Darryl Duffy and Scott Adam who were two giants in West of Scotland football.

Duffy played for Rangers, Hibs, and Carlisle United during an illustrious career, while Adam was skipper and stayed for seven years at Largs, having been a top scorer and major influence in the side.

The welcome return of Ryan Deas to the Largs set-up provides excitement for supporters going into the new season, with Largs kicking off against Johnstone Burgh on Saturday.

The 36-year-old has featured for Arthurlie, Clydebank, Irvine Meadow, Rob Roy, Petershill, Pollok, and Renfrew during a long career in the junior game, and now the West of Scotland Football League.

Thistle confirmed last night that they have bolstered their attack with the Deas signing after he moved from recently promoted Drumchapel United who will also feature in the Premier League this season alongside Largs.

Deas was well known for being the creative lynchpin, and was involved in Thistle's first ever win against Petershill in the West of Scotland Premier League in 2009, scoring twice, and setting up two more in a dazzling 5-1 victory.

He scored some memorable goals in the 2009-10 cup run to the Scottish Cup final, and was interviewed with then manager Sandy MacLean, after scoring in a victory over Rob Roy in the fifth round.

He starred alongside skipper Ross McMillan, keeper Stephen 'Supersonic' Connick, James Marks and many others in a very memorable season which saw Largs going strong in every cup competition going into the month of May.

Listen to our archive recording of an interview with Deas below from 2010 when Largs defeated Rob Roy in the Scottish Cup.

Deas had many magical moments in a Thistle jersey and he was also involved in a 3-1 victory away at Rob Roy in the league in 2011 before this departure.

Since returning to the Barrfields set-up over the summer months, Deas has looked lively as a trialist, netting a spectacular free kick against Maryhill in a 3-2 victory in the Pat Rall Memorial Cup.

He has also looked dangerous coming off the bench as a sub in other games, and helped Largs with his quality touches and clever moves to free up play with good passes and possession.

Deas may be a 'blast from the past' but he has every intention of contributing to Thistle's future success.
