THERE was no sign of rustiness from Largs Colts 2012s as they resumed league duties after the holiday weekend, putting Ardeer Thistle to the sword with an 11-goal victory.
There were only four minutes on the clock when captain Connor Sanbrook sent Cullin McLaughlin through to finish calmly past the advancing keeper.
McLaughlin then returned the favour, crossing for Sanbrook to score his first goal of the season from close range.
A neat piece of interplay between Nathan Orr and Hamish Donaldson sent McLaughlin through for his second of the afternoon.
The hat-trick was completed on 22 minutes in similar fashion when McLaughlin latched onto a Levi Scutt through ball to calmly lift the ball over the advancing keeper for 4-0.
A rare foray forward saw Ardeer reduce the deficit with a good finish across Zach Shields in the Largs goal to make the score 4-1 at half time.
With the wind at their backs, Largs struck again when Sasha Kryznahovki lashed home a sumptuous free-kick to make it 5-1.
McLaughlin scored his fourth and Largs' sixth after a mistake in the home defence put him one-on-one with the keeper. A seventh goal followed soon after and it was McLaughlin again, this time running onto an Elliot Cornell through ball to finish high past the keeper.
A quick corner from the right caught the home defence napping, Reyd Stevens whipped it in and McLaughlin headed home for his sixth of the afternoon.
Kryznahovski scored the pick of the goals with 15 minutes to go after a flowing team move beginning with Alex Semple in the Largs goal.
Right back Stevens then got in on the goalscoring act, finishing well from the corner of the box following an overlapping run down the right.
The final goal arrived with five minutes left to play; Stevens lofted in a free kick from the right which the home keeper misjudged in the breeze and the ball nestled in the back of the net to make the final score 11-1.
