THERE were new gents and ladies singles winners at West Kilbride in the club championships this year, and both winners also collected silverware in the doubles.
In the gents, Tom Hunt overcame last year's finalist Dougie Johnstone in the semi-finals, while Joe Hume outlasted last year's champ Lewis McAulay, meaning that there would be a new name on the coveted trophy this year.
The strength of the men's competition is evidenced in the fact the last five years of the club championship have had different winners.
Tom triumphed 6-7, 6-3, 6-1 in a three set battle in the sunshine against Joe Hume.
And this year Amy Rodger was the winner of the West Kilbride Ladies Championship, defeating Mairi Henry 7-5, 6-2.
Tom Hunt was back in the winner's circle again as he and Bill McNicoll lifted the Gents Doubles trophy.
And Stuart Byers and Finlay Templeton were the winners of the Gents Doubles consolation cup.
The Ladies Doubles winners on the day were Jen McNicol and Jean Wilson.
And Amy Rodger was back in the mix as she competed in the Mixed Doubles tournament, triumphing with Neil McLure, with the Couper family winning the Mixed Doubles consolation with Rory and daughter Ruby among the silverware.
And in the Men's Consolation singles it was well done to Alan Taylor who overcame Kenneth Hodge 6-4, 6-3, and Alison Kindness and Christina McGillion who won the Mixed Doubles consolation 6-1, 7-6 to complete a busy day of tennis and hospitality at the club championships.
