LARGS Thistle face their third trip to Lanarkshire in a week on Saturday as the cup takes centre stage.

Thistle drew 4-4 at Gartcairn in an action packed league encounter on Saturday, and face East Kilbride on Tuesday evening in the South of Scotland Cup before travelling to Lanark United on Saturday, November 2 in the West of Scotland Cup.

The Barrfields side are certainly clocking up the miles with all three journeys outside Ayrshire this week - 280 miles all round - as Thistle face some testing challenges.

The draw at Gartcairn on Saturday means Largs are now unbeaten in nine games, but that run is going to be put to the test with the East Kilbride encounter.

Thistle will then be turning their attentions to Lanark on Saturday in the West of Scotland Cup 2nd round.

Thistle won a nail biting first round finale on penalty kicks at Craigmark as Stuart Davidson's side look to continue their cup journey.

Largs are flying high in the West of Scotland Premier League in second spot, and while Davidson will be pleased that Thistle have once again been banging in the goals, he will disappointed with Thistle conceding four on their travels with their defensive displays usually a strong point.

The last time Largs conceded four goals was over 14 months ago in a 4-2 defeat at Pollok.

Blair Devine was the man of the match on Saturday, with the young winger proving a handful for many Premier League defences with his acceleration and good crosses from the wing.

Despite the disappointment of not holding on for victory against Gartcairn, the league table is pleasing for Thistle, with only one defeat in the league all season so far.

Skipper Stuart Faulds said the last West of Scotland Cup game at Craigmark, which saw Largs throw away a two goal lead before winning on penalties, showed that Thistle had the winning spirit to see themselves through tricky ties.

He said: "It was against lads we don't play against very often and they set up to make it difficult for us as they could.

"We scored twice despite maybe not deserving it. We weren't clicking in the way we have been doing in most games this season.

"When they got one back, we weren't disciplined enough to keep doing what we're good at and ended up conceding again.

"There was maybe a wee bit of match sharpness lacking but I don't have that excuse, and I wasn't at my best either. In the end we got through and that's all that matters."

Thistle are not back at Barrfields until Saturday, November 9, when they face league leaders Clydebank in a mouthwatering first versus second clash in the league.

Largs also find out their next Scottish Cup opponents with another big away trip on the cards on November 23 as Islavale and East Craigie play on Saturday. Thistle won their last round at home to Caledonian Braves 5-0.
