Largs Thistle legend George Wall writes for the News about football matters local, national and international...

It's the big one on Saturday, the top of the table clash against Clydebank.

While a Largs win won’t take them to the top of the division, it will tell the rest of the league that Largs are title contenders.

Clydebank have won their last six league games, Largs have won three of the last six. It’s about time someone took three points off Clydebank.

Largs have been on a good run of form recently albeit some of those games have been in cups against lower league opposition. The whole team need to be at it if they want to win this game.

Clydebank really have strengthened their squad this season and this will be a big test for Largs. Let’s hope they come through it. It’s a game I am looking forward to.

Junior game this week for me was Port Juniors v Cambuslang Rangers in a cup tie. Port winning 4-2 with a few former Largs players on show, Owen McGinty for Cambuslang and Alex McWatters in the Port team. Both of them performed well.

The Port management team are also ex Largs players, Tam Jamieson and Alex McWatters. They seem to be putting together a team heading for promotion. Going forward they are a handful for anyone but they just need to keep that back door shut.

What about the kick off being delayed in the Aberdeen v Celtic game? Poor visibility delayed the game due to smoke from the pyrotechnics and smoke bombs which in itself is a problem. I have seen first hand the injuries pyrotechnics and smoke bombs can cause.

As for the game, Celtic just reminded everyone they are the best team in Scotland. I liked how one of the pundits on TV called it a "minor blip” for Aberdeen. There is nothing minor about getting beat 6-0. Can Celtic take this form into the Champions League against Leipzig this week, who have lost their three games played so far? Getting three points from the Leipzig game sets them up nicely to get into the knockout playoff’s.
