LARGS Thistle are taking time to recharge after a tough period of games which culminated in a goalless draw with league leaders Clydebank on Saturday.
Thistle dropped down a place in the GreenVersity Premier Division to third spot after Johnstone Burgh leapfrogged them to second following their 3-2 victory at Hurlford.
And while Largs will be disappointed not to have taken three points against Clydebank who were reduced to ten men for most of the game, they deserve credit for stopping the league leaders in their tracks after they had a 100 per cent record going into the game at Barrfields Park.
Not only that, Clydebank manager Gordon Moffat heaped praise on his own players for coming through the clash and even said it was the proudest he had been in ten years of management.
Speaking on the Clydebank 'X' page, Moffat said: "I said to the players that I have been managing for seven years, and coaching for ten, and I have never been prouder than my team than I was against Largs.
"It was an absolutely phenomenal pressure under circumstances that were very difficult to deal with.
"I was so proud. I was disappointed first and foremost to lose our winning run, but we got a clean sheet and never had it been so important as it was against Largs."
“I’ve been managing for seven years, coaching for 10, and I’ve never been prouder of a team I’ve been involved with than I am today.”

Largs manager Stuart Davidson said: "Obviously people were looking at the fact of Clydebank being top, and us second going into Saturday's match, and people said that made it an important match.
"For me every game is the biggest of the season because it's the one we are playing at the moment. We know each other very well and it shows you how far we've come this season."
There was a crowd of over 600 at Barrfields for the league clash which even though the lack of goals had plenty of drama with the 15th minute sending off of Clydebank defender Barry Niven, with chances falling to Blair Devine, Will Sewell and Jamie Martin.
Largs had Joe Wilton to thank between the sticks for making two superb saves to deny the Bankies a winner to see them make it nine wins in a row in the league.
Largs now have a blank Saturday coming up and are back in competitive action in the Scottish Cup when they face East Craigie.
The club are running a bus to the game leaving Barrfields Park at 9.30am on Saturday, November 23, and a seat costs £20.
If you are interested in going along contact chairman Ali McMaster or any other committee member.
It has been a testing period of games for Largs with three trips in a week to Lanarkshire, and Largs have been drawn against East Kilbride Thistle in the West of Scotland Cup third round following their 3-0 dismissal of Lanark United in round two.
Davidson said: "It was important we didn't lose two cup ties in a week, after losing to East Kilbride FC.
"Lanark made it hard for us, they probably created the better chances in the first half. We had to be patient and that was how we got the first goal.
"Up to that point we had been trying to force it, but we took our time, made a couple of passes, and that resulted in the space to score."
